February 3,2026 BPC Meeting "Tips & Techniques for Zoo Photography" by John Reed & Tech Talk "Photography for a Purpose" by Leslie Kirkwood

John Reed is a professional photographer with over 20 years of experience teaching in the classroom and in-the-field workshops. He has been widely published in local and national magazines and websites. He has been awarded honors for his photographs locally and nationally. His images are displayed nationwide in a variety of professional offices, healthcare facilities, military bases, and more, including many private homes.

Capturing great images at a zoo presents many challenges to the photographer.  There are fences and glass in the way preventing a clean view.  This presentation will provide some tips and advice on overcoming those obstacles as well as some general photographic advice on photographing the wildlife.

ONLY Tech Talk Recording will be available as soon as the next day on the Beaches Photography Club YouTube Channel.

March 3rd BPC meeting - “Architecture - Seeing Beyond the Literal” by Art Becker & "Preparing Photos for Exhibition" by Kim Beaulieu

Art is an award-winning photographer whose career spans more than 4 decades. He is a dedicated teacher sharing his photographic expertise with students for over 30 years. You can view his website: artbeckerphoto.com. Art's photography has been in Architectural Record, Time Magazine, ESPN Magazine, Hallmark Cards, A&E Network, The Weather Channel, American Express, Faith Magazine, Windham Hill Records, Alligator Records, Bradenton Blues Fest, Tampa Bay Blues Fest, Erie Art Museum, Blues & Jazz, Major League Baseball, National Football League, Olympus Corporation, Taylor Morrison Graystar, Apple and  Amazon.

As photographers, we craft our photographs by arranging elements through composition. In this talk we’ll learn to develop the ability to see beyond the literal elements of a scene and identify the more abstract qualities, which is an essential skill for elevating your photography.

    1) Light - what to look for, 2) Leave no stone unturned with angles, 3) Take your time to compose, 4) Get out of comfort zone, 5) Don’t be afraid to fail

April 7th BPC meeting (ZOOM ONLY) - “Architecture - Seeing Beyond the Literal” by Derek Cioffi

After my wife and I had children, they rekindled my teenage passion for photography, as I was trying to capture moments in their lives.  My key areas of photography are travel (cityscape, architectural, journalistic) and sports (swim, football, soccer, & lacrosse are my favorites).  I've been shooting seriously since 2008 and enjoy the community of sharing and learning from fellow photographers.

Travel photography is the perfect way to combine adventure and creativity while preserving memories of your journey.  Vacationing offers diverse landscapes, cultures, and experiences that create unique storytelling opportunities through your lens.  This presentation will guide you on how to incorporate travel photography into your travels and make your vacation photos truly captivating.

May 5th BPC meeting - “The Power of Personal Projects” by Rich Johnson

Equipped with a love for the arts and a passion for cinema, Rich Johnson’s influences are clearly expressed in every click of the shutter. He is a national and international award-winning artist including two Emmys. Rich has distinguished himself as an innovator in design, photography, and video and has spent the last 10 years perfecting his artistic skills to become an expert in the fields of print, web, video, and photography. His skill set, mixed with his creative personality, is a perfect fit for any project. Rich has produced multiple viral projects including an anti-bullying awareness campaign called Weapon of Choice that has been used by over 180 non-profits around the world. His powerful photographs and videos from that campaign caught the attention of the UN, which led to him being a speaker at the US Senate in 2014 for a UN Aids event. In 2013 he co-founded a local non-profit that is dedicated to funding revolutionary research to treat pediatric cancers. Since the non-profits conception, Rich has produced multiple photo campaigns that have both helped to raise funds for research and educate people on what the pediatric cancer world really looks like.

Have you ever gotten stuck in a creative rut? My talk will be about feeding your creative side and how to do that. It will help people who are looking to expand their skills and try new things. Whether you have a photography business or are a hobbyist, let’s discover ways to expand creativity.  Rich Johnson breaks down how he uses personal projects to climb his way out of that rut and learn new skills.
